Covenant Child Development Center Mission Statement

Covenant Child Development Center is an intentional ministry of the United Methodist Church of the Covenant. The Center is governed by the Child Development Board, who uphold that childcare is an important outreach program, designed to offer the very best in Christian childcare and early childhood education.

Our goal is to teach and model the skills and attitudes that enrich family life and instill a love for learning in a Christian environment. The Preschool Program offers a morning curriculum that is designed to provide each child with learning experiences that help them to develop physically, socially, spiritually and emotionally. The DayCare Program builds on the preschool program as it continues to provide afternoon care in an environment which is safe and secure. The After-School Program offers small/age appropriate classroom settings for homework, fellowship, and recreational activities.

Within this atmosphere of love and trust, we strive to give each child a feeling of self-confidence and a knowledge of God's love for us and each other.

Our History

We began in the early 1980's with a handful of children, using the Church Sunday School rooms. With God's blessing and Barbara Manoski's leadership, we grew each year until we finally needed our own space! We moved into our current location (an extension of the church) in 1997, and have been blessed with the many children that have moved through our program. We recently completed a renovation to allow us to add an additional one and two year old classroom to our program, and we are so excited to be able to be available to more children in our area!

Location

We are located at 9020 Asheville Highway, just up from John Dodd Rd. You may come in the lower drive, and the Child Development Center is located near the playground. All visitors should use the office entrance (there is a sign designating this entrance).

Winter Weather Policy

Please remember that we follow District 2 as far as our closings and delays due to winter weather. We are also listed as Covenant Child Development Center-Spartanburg. If District 2 is closed, we are closed. If District 2 has a two hour delay, the center will open at 9:00 to begin receiving children in the Early Room, and Preschool will begin at 10:00 (this gives our teachers time to get their own children to school and then get to work.) If District 2 has a one hour delay, the center will open at 8:00, and Preschool will begin at 9:00.
